Call Them

Here’s a sample script:

“Hi! My name is _______ and I live in your district. I’m calling to ask you to support (((Current Bill Number can be found in Legislative Updates) which is the “Licensed Midwife Act, and supports the licensure for Community Midwives, including Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs). In 2015 a wording change in a Georgia Department of Public Health rule legislated this entire profession out of business in a time where Georgia needs MORE maternity care providers. CPMs are the only healthcare provider trained specifically for out-of-hospital births and are licensed in 35 states. States that integrate CPMs have better outcomes for moms and babies, and Georgia has the worst!

“This bill will protect my right to a qualified healthcare provider and increase safe birth options for women/me.”

Write a Letter

A handwritten note with a photo of your baby that was delivered at home is a nice touch! Or simply a note listing some of the benefits of Certified Professional Midwives. You can use some of the information above, as well as some of the information on our Why We Need Certified Professional Midwives.
